What is ozone therapy?

Ozone therapy is the technique that uses ozone as a therapeutic agent, either because of its high oxidizing and healing capacity, or as a means of activating certain proteins (IFN-β, TGF-β) and cells of the blood immune system.

1. Ozone is an allotropic derivative of oxygen, its molecule is made up of three oxygen atoms. Ozone for therapeutic uses is generated from medical oxygen (99.9% O2), in an O3/O2 mixture of 5% ozone by volume maximum.

2. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, modulating oxidative stress and improving peripheral circulation and tissue oxygenation.

The concentration and mode of application would vary depending on the pathology to be treated, since the ozone concentration determines the type of biological effect it produces and the mode of application marks its scope of action in the body.

Usos

Main medical uses of ozone

  • Allergies in children and adults (it is estimated that it stimulates the body's immune response).

  • Diabetes.

  • Chronic venous insufficiency.

  • Osteoporosis.

  • Retinitis pigmentosa.

  • Healing delays.

  • Arteriosclerosis and therefore all those pathologies derived from the decrease in oxygen supply to the tissues.

  • Recurrent vulvovaginitis.

  • Ulcerative colitis.

  • Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

  • Osteoarthritis and arthritis

  • Disc herniation (percutaneous discolysis).

  • Assistant in oncology.

  • Use in dentistry for periodontal diseases and disinfection of work areas.

  • For acne vulgaris.
